How we work, in writing

No fine print games. Here is what World Expat Health is, how Alex is paid, and what the advice on this site does and does not do.

Last updated: June 2026

Who we are

World Expat Health is the independent insurance advisory of Alexander Routh, advising expats on international private medical insurance since 1995. We are an advisory, not an insurer. The policies we compare are underwritten by third-party insurers, and your cover is a contract between you and that insurer.

How Alex is paid

Alex is paid a commission by the insurer whose policy you choose. He is never paid by you. The advice, the comparison, and the claims help cost you nothing, and the price you pay the insurer is the same whether you use Alex or not.

About the information here

The content on this site is general information to help you ask better questions. It is not personal advice until Alex has looked at your situation, and it is not a substitute for reading the actual policy wording before you buy.

What we cannot promise

We do not control whether an insurer accepts you or how a claim is decided. Acceptance, premiums, and claim outcomes depend on your circumstances and the terms of the policy you hold. Alex will tell you straight what a policy does and does not cover, and can help organise the information behind authorisation, billing or reimbursement questions, but the final decision sits with the insurer.

Links to other sites

This site links to insurers, the quote engine, and resources we think are useful. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of sites we do not run.
